Born into the world of insurance and real estate, William (Bill) D. Benton is a partner of the Benton Luttrell Insurance and Benton Luttrell Real Estate companies. Beginning his insurance and Real Estate career shortly after earning his degree from Texas Tech University in 1978. Bill’s passion for the community and commitment to servant leadership resulted in a natural progression leading his family’s historic agency and ultimate purchase of the firm in 1979.

Bill is very active in the community, dedicating tremendous amounts of time to further causes that improve the lives of North Texas residents. As a result of this service Bill was recognized in 2005 with the Grayson County Outstanding Citizen of the Year Award - presented by the Texoma Council of Governments. As well as being honored as Laureate of the Texoma Area Business Hall of Fame.

In addition, Bill has served as Mayor Pro-tem of the Van Alstyne City Council and has operated as the past Chairman, President, or Board of Directors for:

-        Wilson N. Jones Medical Center Board of Trustees

-        Van Alstyne Community Development Corporation

-        First United Methodist Church of Van Alstyne Church Council

-        Texas Tech University Alumni Association National Board of Directors

-        Van Alstyne Independent School District Education Foundation

-        Goodwill Industries of Northeast Texas

-        ManeGait – a Therapeutic Horse-Riding Center for Children and Adults

Bill continues to currently serve the community as a member of the Grayson County Metropolitan Planning Organization Technical Advisory Committee, Board Member of the Van Alstyne Independent School District Education Foundation, and a Board Member of Able Faith Ministries Inc., an organization that serves individuals with physical and neurological disabilities.

Bill and his wife Paula have been married for over 40 years and have 3 children and 5 grandchildren.
